I’m a self taught sourdough bread baker and have put this site together to share what I’ve learnt. I bake sourdough bread a couple of times a week, because that’s what works for me, therefore I’ve put this guide together based on my baking needs. It’s easy to follow and adapt to your own baking needs.
Sourdough bread is made by the fermentation of dough using naturally occurring lactobacilli and yeast. As a result, sourdough bread has a mildly sour taste not present in most breads made with baker’s yeast, and therefore better inherent keeping qualities than other breads due to the lactic acid produced by the lactobacilli.
